How many sites per server do you host?

Our hosting service is a performance based hosting. We do not have any preset limits to the number of sites we host on any particular server.
The number of sites hosted on any particular server is determined solely by the hardware and software resources of the server in conjunction with the specific sites hosted on the server.
We utilize both Microsoft and proprietary performance monitors to determine when to stop adding sites to a specific server.
Our benchmarks are as follows:
a) We never run any application in virtual RAM. All of our web servers have 4 gigabytes of physical RAM. We do not add any additional sites to a server when 80% of the server's physical RAM has been utilized. Running applications in virtual RAM slows server performance and reduces the mean time between failures (MTBF) of the SCSI disk drives.
b) All servers are multi-processor servers and we never exceed more than 50% of the processing of the server.
c) All storage systems utilize hardware RAID5 and 10,000 rpm or greater SCSI disk drives. We never exceed 70% of the server's physical disk space nor do we ever retrieve files from network shares.
d) We never provision servers to provide multiple services. Web servers provide web services, SQL Servers provide SQL services and so on. Unlike many of our competitors, you will never find any server running both IIS, SQL, Mail or statistical reporting software.
To better answer your question, our web servers typically host between 75 and 200 web applications depending upon the physical resources of the server and the specific web applications hosted upon them. Our database servers often have between 200 and 300 databases sharing the server, again, depending solely on the performance of the specific server.
We can assure you of one thing...you will not experience performance problems due to our servers or networks, and if for some reason you do, we already know about it and are working to correct the issue, even if it means removing a specific application that is causing the problem!
Customers who utilize more than their fair share of server resources are provided development consultation in an attempt to reduce resource utilization.
Errant applications are automatically restarted, and in extreme cases, shut down, thereby protecting the resources for other applications sharing the server.
As a last resort, we will discontinue hosting for any application that causes severe or repeated server performance problems for other customers sharing the same resources.
We doubt you will find another host that will watch your applications performance like we will!
