Do you host SQL server and IIS on the same server?

Absolutely not!

All of our services are hosted on independent servers. SQL Server is no exception. We host Microsoft SQL Server on a dedicated multi-cpu hardware platform with at least 2GB of RAM. We can effectively host about 300 databases on each of our servers.

Each server is carefully monitored using both SQL Profiler and proprietary monitoring software to ensure maximum performance.

A few of our competitors indicate you should be leery of hosting companies that allow so much disk space...here is our answer:

a) Disk space is inexpensive and it should not cost a fortune to store your data.

b) While it is true that large databases can inhibit overall server performance, it is not dependent only upon the database size but more directly on the number of simultaneous transactions occurring, the design of the database and the hardware capability of the server. We monitor the server very closely and when a single user's database begins to consume enough system resources to inhibit overall server performance, the customer is provided consultation in an effort to reduce resource consumption or required to upgrade to virtual dedicated or dedicated servers. If you simply need a lot of storage space, you should not be restricted. If you need dedicated resources for performance, you should pay for it. We do not think you should be restricted to a 50MB or 100MB database simply because of the cost of storage and backups.

c) We backup your database daily and store each daily backup 7 days for your protection. Again, the cost of remote storage space is inexpensive.

d) Our VDH service provides 2.5GB of disk space. Keep in mind that this is divided between all of your VDH add-on packages, therefore, the majority of databases on our SQL Server machines are small.

The bottom line is that there is no good reason not to provide customers adequate disk space if you are offering TRUE performance based hosting. Only hosting companies that do not provide performance based hosting have to limit their customers to small database servers.
