.NET Components
We permit .NET
assemblies utilized by ASP.NET's code behind feature. There
is no requirement for a code review for DLL's files used in
your /bin directory with the code behind feature.
Custom
ASP Components
ASPwebhosting.com
permits most custom ASP components. Our criteria for
installation of your custom ASP components is as follows.
-
Provide
only your source code. It must be in ZIP format.
Do not provide compiled DLL's as we will only install DLL's
that we compile
-
Your
source code must be documented. Trust us, it will
cost you more to leave it undocumented
-
There
is a $150 per hour fee for source code review and COM
installation. Typically we can complete most reviews in
under an hour provided your source code is well
documented
-
Make
sure your loops exit properly and that you discard
variables and objects to the memory pool when finished
with them.
-
Excessive
use of memory is the number one cause of COM objects to
fail our inspection. Keep in mind that you are in a
shared hosting environment and you are sharing memory
with other applications.
-
When
you make changes to your ASP components, only provide the
changed classes or we will have to review the entire
project again, which will increase your costs.
Microsoft ASP Components
We permit the use of Microsoft
objects such as the file system object and the dictionary
object. If you need a Microsoft object that is not on the
server, please ask.
We do not permit any
Microsoft Office components on our shared web servers. They
are detrimental to server performance and are subject to MS
Office per user licensing restrictions.
We do not support CDONTS. We
support several alternate products that are listed above and
similar to code.
1 Installed
upon request for VDH clients. All other components are typically preinstalled.
2 We
permit other commercial components not listed. If you need a commercial
component that we currently do not provide, simply ask us and we
may install it. We will
review the vendors credentials for credibility and test the
component on a lab server. Upon passing our inspection for reliability and safety
for our shared hosting clients,
we will install a fully licensed version of the desired
component. You may be required to pay the license fee for the component. |
